PRESS INFORMATION

The Minister of National Defence, Gabriel Oprea, ordered that ceremonies should be organized, in all military units at home and deployed abroad, as a token of respect and in memory of the heroes of Romanian Armed Forces who were killed in action in the theaters of operations, who acted in accordance with the Solemn Oath they took to their homeland.

The Ministry of National Defence and all military units hosted on Friday, June 25, at 0800hrs ceremonies in memory of the heroes killed in action in Afghanistan, 2nd Lieutenants post-mortem, Dan Ciobotaru and Paul Caracuda.

The leadership, military and civil personnel attended the ceremony organized at the ministry location.

During the ceremony, a moment’s silence and a religious service were held in memory of the heroes, the defence minister’s orders were read concerning the promotion in rank, post-mortem, of the two heroes and the Presidential decrees on awarding the two heroes, Dan Ciobotaru and Paul Caracuda, Ordinul National Steaua Romaniei in grad de Cavaler, [National Order Star of Romania, Knight Rank, for military men].

On the same day, Friday, June 25, all military chapels in military bases or garrisons hold religious services in memory of the heroes killed in theaters of operations, in action or in terrorist attacks, as a token of respect for their loyalty and courage in combat.
