While visiting flood-affected counties in Moldavia, defence minister Gabriel Oprea, advised that a pontoon bridge be set on Suceava River, at the town of Dornesti. The town of Dornesti was affected by recent floods and the bridge connecting the towns of Radauti and Dornesti along route DN 17 was damaged.

On the early morning of Saturday, a 60-troop detachment of the 72nd Engineer Battalion within the 10th Engineer Brigade in Braila, onboard of 32 vehicles are going to travel to Dornesti. The bridge set by the engineers would consist of 60 pontoons and devices sustaining the shore; the work is going to be finished in about seven days.


In the towns of Patrauti and Dornesti in Suceava County, seriously affected by the floods, 80 troops of the 17th Mountain Battalion work to evacuate materials and assist people isolated by waters. As of Saturday, the mountain troops would work with the engineers to set the pontoon bridge in place.

The defence ministry sent 50 field beds and all necessary equipment to the Mayor's Office in Patrauti, for the people whose houses had been destroyed.

The defence minister has ordered an increase in number of troops working in 16 towns in the seven counties most affected by the floods, namely - Bacau, Botosani, Vrancea, Neamt, Galati, Harghita and Suceava - this way, the total number of troops involved in these interventions reaches 468.
