A ceremony for the handing over/taking over the position of Chief of Navy Staff was organized in Constanta Military Port on Saturday, July 3. The Minister of Defence and the Chief of General Staff participated in the ceremony.

According to the Presidential Decree that was read, Rear Admiral Dorin Danila was promoted in rank to Vice Admiral of the Reserve while by order of the defence minister Rear Admiral Aurel Popa, former Fleet Commander, was appointed Chief of Navy Staff.

Minister Gabriel Oprea congratulated Rear Admiral (R) Dorin Danila for all his achievements and efforts made during his mandate. He also wished the new chief of staff success in his future activity offering his entire support for the accomplishment of Navy Forces missions.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the General Staff, the Ministry of Administration and Interior, The Orthodox Church, the public local administration, commanders of Navy large units and units, officers, Navy WOs on duty or of the Reserve.
