While carrying out a paratroops training mission on Monday, July 5, an AN-2 aircraft of the Air Force School in Boboc, crashed on Tuzla airdrome at 17.40 hrs. Ten young officers died in the accident, another three were injured.

Four crew members and nine officers of the Navy Forces were onboard of the plane.

Shortly after taking off, the aircraft had suddenly started losing altitude and crashed. Upon impact, the aircraft went on fire, which was only put out at 18.15 hrs. The three injured troops were immediately taken to hospital.

By minister’s orders, a technical investigation commission was put up. The Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea and the Chief of General Staff Admiral Gheorghe Marin, express regrets for the loss and send condolences to the grieving families.
