Colonel (AF) Nicolae Jianu, commander of the Air Force School 'Aurel Vlaicu' in Boboc, was on board of the AN-2 aircraft that crashed on Tuzla airdrome, on Monday, July 5, at 17.40 hrs.

Col. (AF) Jianu, pilot 1st class and day/night flight trainer, on all weather conditions, is the eleventh officer that died in this terrible accident. He was married and had two children. Seven of the soldiers who died in the tragic accident were from the Navy Forces, four from the Air Force. Two of the injured soldiers are from the Navy Forces, the third is from the Air Force.

A commission was set up by defence minister’s order to investigate the accident.
