PRESS RELEASE

The two-week holiday offered by the defence ministry to 20 children of the flood affected town of Dornesti, Suceava County starts on Thursday, July 15. The children will be accommodated in military resorts in the mountains and at the seaside.

It was defence minister Gabriel Oprea’s initiative after the talks he had with local authorities and the families that were victims of the floods. Liliana Stefaneti, a teacher accompanying the group of children, whose house was damaged by the flood said: \'Though still scared by what they went through, the children are very happy to have this trip. We appreciate the support of the troops and we thank minister Oprea and the military institution for this idea. We are grateful for the pontoon bridge that spares us a deviated route of 40km, in the absence of which the humanitarian aids and building materials would have reached Dornesti with great difficulty.\'

The Joint Logistic Command organized a first week of the trip in Cap Aurora at the seaside and another one, from 22 to 29 July, in Sinaia for the seven boys and 13 girls accompanied by two teachers.

This project comes in addition to the actions of the defence ministry in support of the flood victims as well as the solidarity shown by military personnel who donated home appliances, clothing, water, food for the people in the towns of Dornesti, Suceava County, Dorohoi, Botosani County and Doljesti, Neamt County
