The Secretary of State for Defence Policy and Planning, Mr. Viorel Oancea, had a meeting with Mr. Giorgi Baramidze, Vice Prime Minister of Georgia and State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, during the latter`s visit to Romania. The meeting was held at the defence ministry location on Thursday, October 7.

The officials approached topics of mutual interest such as military bilateral cooperation, the identification of new ways of augmenting, diversifying cooperation and aspects related to both countries` involvement in theaters of operations. The latest developments in Georgia and topics of mutual interest on NATO and EU agendas were also discussed.

The military cooperation relations were considered good, bilateral relations could be improved and furthered against the background of our countries` good relations and Georgia`s determination to meet the objectives assumed in relation to NATO.

The Romanian party stated its willingness to continue assisting Georgia in its defence reform, due to Romanian experience gained during the process of joining NATO.
