The Chief of General Staff Major General Stefan Danila headed a military delegation that participated in the meeting of NATO`s Military Committee organized in its highest format in Brussels, from January 25 to 27.

The Chiefs of Defence participated in an informal meeting with NATO Secretary General, Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Different other meetings were organized as well, with the Mediterranean Dialogue Partners, with Euro-Atlantic Partners, with the CHODs from Russia and Ukraine.

There was an informal exchange of views on the most pressing priorities facing NATO, including the implementation of the new Strategic Concept, the way ahead in Afghanistan as well as briefings on the NATO`s ongoing operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan.

During the meetings with his counterparts, Major General Stefan Danila talked of the ongoing as well as the future transformation of the Romanian Armed Forces, their contribution to NATO missions in the theaters of operations and ways of furthering military bilateral relations.

In preparation of his participation in NATO`s Military Committee meeting, the chief of the General Staff conferred with the leadership of the Romanian Military Mission to NATO and EU, on Tuesday January 25. Major General Danila met with the mission staff as well to be updated on the present issues of this structure.

The meeting in Brussels, chaired by Admiral Giampaolo di Paola, the Chairman of the Military Committee, were attended by Chiefs of Defence and Military Representatives of 66 countries, by Admiral James Stavridis, Commander Allied Command Operations and General Stephane Abrial, Commander Allied Command Transformation.
