The Minister of National Defence, Gabriel Oprea, participates on Thursday, July 21, in the military ceremony organized for the arrival of Frigate F 221 'Regele Ferdinand' from the mission it carried out in the Mediterranean Sea within 'Unified Protector'.

The event, organized in Constanta military port, is attended by representatives of central and local authorities, officials from the ministry of national defence, retired and reserve military personnel and war veterans.

Since it has become operational under the Romanian Navy Force, Frigate F 221 'Regele Ferdinand' carried out several missions, among which, the most important are 'ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR' in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010 in the Mediterranean Sea, exercise 'BREEZE-CERTEX' in 2007, 2008 in Bulgaria, exercise 'NOBLE MIDAS' in 2007 in Croatia and in 2008 in Italia.
During its mission within the NATO-led Navy group conducting operation 'UNIFIED PROTECTOR' - 2011, the frigate sailed over 17,400 NM and carried out some 770 specific missions.
