A Romanian soldier of the 2nd Maneuver Battalion deployed to Zabul Province in Afghanistan was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) on Wednesday morning, September 7.

During a patrol mission, Corporal Ion-Lucian Leustean had a recce task when he was attacked with an IED. He was given first aid and then transported by a medvac helicopter to Lagman Base for surgery and specialized medical care.

The Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea and the military leadership are constantly updated on Corporal Leustean's condition.
