On Thursday, September 27, around 15.00 pm, a Romanian soldier of the 495^th Maneuver Battalion deployed to Zabul Province in Afghanistan was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED).


During a patrol mission, Corporal Catalin-Cristian Olteanu had a recce task when he was attacked with an IED. He was given medical care in the hospital from Lagman Base and then transported to the military hospital from Kandahar for surgery and specialized medical care. The military's medical condition is stable.


The Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea and the military leadership are constantly updated on Corporal Olteanu's condition.
