Romanian Armed Forces continue to intervene in support of the population affected by snow and snow storms. A detachment of the 528th Recce Battalion operating an armored personnel carrier and a DAC 665T truck works for the evacuation of an ill person from an ambulance stuck in snow in Tarlele Filiu, Braila County and his transportation to the nearest hospital.

At the request of the Arad Prefect`s Office, 21 troops of the 185th Logistics Battalion is involved in clearing the snow from a bridge in Lipova.

The sea rescue tug 'Grozavul' continues to break the ice on Sulina channel between Mile 15 and Tulcea harbor while river tugboat 328 continues to ensure the transportation of people between Tulcea and Tudor Vladimirescu, as the navigation interdiction issued by Tulcea Harbor Master`s Office for civilian ships is still in effect.

As of Wednesday, February 1, at the order of the Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea, about 4000 troops and 1000 equipment are prepared to offer assistance all over the country, if requested by local or central authorities, for the containment of the effects of massive snowfalls and snow storms. Personnel can be augmented with up to 4000 troops according to developments.

The defence ministry keeps the situation in the country under observation, through its specialized structure in the General Staff so that they should be able to intervene in support of the population affected by the extreme weather conditions.
