On Tuesday and Wednesday, over 500 troops and 40 vehicles of the Ministry of National Defence made over 20 interventions in support of the population affected by the snowfalls and snow storms. The troops evacuated and saved the people for whom assistance was requested by local authorities and cleared from snow roads in Arad, Botosani, Vaslui, Brasov, Prahova, Ilfov and Vrancea counties.
On Wednesday, February 8, 160 troops of the defence ministry work with 17 vehicles in several areas of the country. In the area of Faurei and Bratesu in Braila County, a detachment of the 10th Engineering Brigade work with a Wola vehicle, an evacuation tractor type VT 55A and two DAC 665T trucks at evacuating people in distress and clearing roads from snow.
Troops of the 86th Air Flotilla work with engineering equipment at clearing county route 308A, connecting Borcea in Calarasi County and the railway station Baraganu, in Ialomita County.
A detachment of the 72nd Engineering Battalion was asked for assistance in the area of Faurei, Braila County, where an INTERCITY train got stuck in snow. The troops brought food and drinking water to travellers in the train and continue to assist the intervention troops in the area for the clearing of the route to Faurei.
A team of the 52nd Mixed Artillery Regiment work at clearing the road and accompany an ambulance that has to evacuate a sick person from Malusteni, Vaslui County.

A detachment of the 282nd Mechanized Brigade from Focsani work with a MLI equipped for MEDEVAC, at transporting the medication necessary to a sick child in Slobozia Ciorasti, Vrancea County.
Troops of the 22nd Transport Battalion ensure the transportation of technical staff from Electrica S.A., in Targoviste Municipality to Crevedia, to repair some damages of the electrical network.
About 60 troops of the 32nd Infantry Battalion work with four trucks at the request of the local authorities of Timisoara Municipality, for the clearing of several streets in the city.
Troops of the 235th Logistic Support Battalion in Targoviste carry drinking water to people of Schela Mare neighborhood in Moreni Municipality, whose drinking water supply was interrupted.
The sea rescue tug 'Grozavul' continues to break the ice on Sulina channel between Mile 15 and Tulcea harbor while river tugboat 328 continues to ensure the transportation of people between Tulcea and Tudor Vladimirescu, as the navigation interdiction issued by Tulcea Harbor Master's Office for civilian ships is still in effect.
The Ministry of National Defence can respond to requests from local and central authorities with 4000 troops and 1000 equipment, for the containment of the effects of massive snowfalls and snow storms, as ordered by the Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea.
The defence ministry keeps the situation in the country under observation, through its specialized structure in the General Staff and continue to intervene in support of the population affected by the extreme weather conditions.
