The Ministry of National Defence keeps the situation in the country under observation, through its specialized structure in the General Staff and can respond to requests from local and central authorities with 4000 troops and 1000 equipment, for the containment of the effects of massive snowfalls and snow storms, as ordered by the Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea.
In the last 24 hours, over 200 troops and 28 vehicles of the defence ministry intervened in support of the population affected by snowfalls and snow storms in counties in the sounth of Moldova, Muntenia and Dobrogea.
The military continue their interventions on Thursday, February 9, as well. In the area of Milosesti, Ialomita County, a detachment of the 113th Artillery Battalion work with a DAC 665T truck at evacuating people in distress and clearing roads from snow between Milosesti andi Grivita. Troops of the 51st Mixed Artillery Regiment from Slobozia ensure transportation of technical staff from Electrica S.A. to repair some damages of the electrical network in the area of Lehliu, Calarasi County,.
In the area of Boboc, Buzau County, a detachment from the Air Force Specialty School work at clearing of snow a three kilometers long portion of the road to the railway station.
The sea rescue tug 'Grozavul' ensures the transport of bread for the people in Crisani and passengers travelling from Sulina to Tulcea, and continues to break the ice on Sulina channel while ensuring the transportation of people between Tulcea and Tudor Vladimirescu.
