By order of the the Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea, a coordination center was established at the 90th Airlift Flotilla in Otopeni with a view to creating an air bridge to supply food to the population in localities isolated by the massive snow falls and storms.

At the request of the Prefects` Offices in the counties worst affected by snow, the food will be carried by Air Force helicopters, as stipulated byn H.G. nr. 2288/2004. Several associations and businesspersons in the food industry provide the food to be distributed to people in isolated localities, at the request of the respective Mayor`s offices. According to weather conditions and the situation in place, the transport and distribution of the products will be made also by land, from points of logistic support created to this purpose
The first two transports take place on Thursday night, February 9, with two military helicopters, the crews of which are under command of Captain Commanders Constantin Grigore and Cristian Ciochina. The IAR-330 Puma helicopters took off from the 90th Airlift Flotilla at 19.30, heading for Marasu, Braila County, with two tons of food.

About 22.30 another humanitarian transport is planned, to take a ton of food to Frecatei, Braila County.

The military continued to offer assistance, transporting food and people with two ships of the Romanian Navy. The sea rescue tug 'Grozavul' transported bread for the people in Crisani and passengers from Sulina and Crisani to Tulcea, while River tugboat 328 transported people between Tulcea and Tudor Vladimirescu.
