Troops and equipment of the defence ministry continue on Wednesday, February 15, to make efforts to save lives endangered by the massive snowfalls and storms and to distribute food, basic goods and to clear access roads of snow.

Since the beginning of humanitarian aid operations, the military helicopters and trucks distributes around 310 tons of food in 75 localities in Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Teleorman and Vrancea counties.

The coordination center of the air bridge established at the 90th Airlift Flotilla by order of the defence minister scheduled air missions for C27 J SPARTAN on Wednesday to take over food from Timisoara and Campia Turzii and carry it to the 90th Airlift Flotilla in Otopeni, the 95th Air Flotilla in Bacau, the airfield in Mihail Kogalniceanu, Constanta County. From there it will be transported by truck or by helicopter to isolated localities should weather conditions allow it.

Three IAR-330 PUMA helicopters carried today three tons of food from Mihail Kogalniceanu airport to Marasu, Frecatei and Ciocile, in Braila County, with more transports to follow in the afternoon. On Wednesday afternoon food helicopters transport food from 90th Airlift Flotilla to Puiesti, in Buzau County and Galbenu, Visani and Surdila-Greci in Braila County.

On Tuesday, food and basic goods collected at the centers established by the defence ministry to this end in Bucharest and other garrisons across the country were transported from Campia Turzii to the 95th Air Flotilla in Bacau; there they were taken over by the troops of the 2nd Infantry Division and the 8th LAROM Brigade to localities in Vrancea County.

Trucks with 67,5 tons of food left from the 'Muntenia' Logistic Support Base to take them in 12 localities in Buzau County and other three localities in Calarasi County.
Troops of the 113th Artillery Battalion transported food to Colelia and Grindasi, Ialomita County on Wednesday.

Troops of the 2nd Mountain Brigade carry nine tons of food with three trucks, in nine localities in Calarasi County.

On Wednesday and Thursday, troops of the 2nd Infantry Division will carry 150 m3 of wood for fire with nine trucks to 11 localities in Ialomita County, from a warehouse in Valea Doftanei.

The military intervened and continue to do so in counties from Muntenia, Dobrogea and south Moldova.

In Vrancea County, detachments of the 8th LAROM Brigade work in Dumitresti to clear roads of snow.

A detachment of the Engineers’ Training Center continues to clear roads of snow in the area of Balcesti, Valcea County.

Over 100 troops of the Land and Naval Forces worked Tuesday night and Wednesday morning to clear of snow roads in several villages in Ciocile area.

Land Forces troops worked at clearing of snow isolated houses and blocked roads in Axintele, Cazanesti and Tovarasia Ialomita County.

Six tons of mineral water from Miercurea-Ciuc was carried by the troops of the 61st Mountain Brigade to Moreni Municipality.

The sea rescue tug 'Grozavul' ensures the transport of from Sulina to Tulcea, and continues to break the ice on Sulina channel while ensuring the transportation of people from isolated localities in the Danube Delta. River tugboat 328 continues to transport people between Tulcea and Tudor Vladimirescu.

The Ministry of National Defence keeps the situation in the country under observation, through its specialized structure in the General Staff and can respond to requests from local and central authorities with 8000 troops and 2000 equipment, for the containment of
the effects of massive snowfalls and snow storms, as ordered by the the Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea.
