The Minister of National Defence Gabriel Oprea approved, at the request of the Prefect`s Office of Calarasi County, on Monday, February 27 that an IAR-330 PUMA helicopter make a surveillance flight over the Danube in the area of the ice bridges.

The helicopter of the 86th Air Flotilla of Fetesti, took off Fetesti airfield around 16.00, heading for Calarasi. There military specialists of the 96th Engineer Battalion, representatives of the Prefect`s Office and the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Calarasi went on board the helicopter. The helicopter crew under the command of Lieutenant Commander Cristian Dobroghiu, conduct a reconnaissance mission between the town of Cernavoda to Dorobantu, Calarasi County.

The defence minister ordered that the General Staff prepare an engineering unit that should be ready to intervene in the dangerous area on the river, if needed.
