The Ministry of National Defence organizes, on Thursday, 24 May, military and religious ceremonies in celebration of the Ascension Day and the Heroes` Day, in localities having monuments of the heroes, through the National Office for Heroes Memory, in cooperation with representatives of the local administration.

During the wreath-laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Monument of Romanian Heroes Killed in Action, two military aircraft formations, consisting in three MiG-21 LanceRs and two IAR-330 PUMA SOCAT helicopters will fly over the area as a tribute to the heroes of the homeland.

Wreath-laying ceremonies are organized at heroes` monuments in cities and localities with military units, with the participation of active duty, reserve and retired military personnel, war veterans and representatives of local authorities.

A moment of silence will be held in all military units at 12.00, whereas military religious chapels will toll the bells as a tribute to the heroes of the homeland.
