The Day of the Military Paratroopers was celebrated at the National Military Museum of the Aviation on Friday, 8 June, when homage was paid to veteran military paratroopers and a room dedicated to General Grigore Bastan was inaugurated.

Lieutenant General Valeriu Nicut, Deputy Chief of General Staff for Operations and Training awarded the Emblem of Honor of the General Staff to several WW2 paratroopers combatants.

The activity was organized by the Center for Training and Special Operations in Buzau, in cooperation with the Foundation 'General Grigore Bastan'.

The first Romanian Military Paratroopers were formed on 10 June 1941. Military paratroopers were considered from the beginning an elite speciality of the Romanian military, whose members were only the most skilled troops, selected through tough and strict tests.
