The State Secretary for Parliament Liaison, Public Information and Personnel Welfare, Mr. Dan Tataru, met with Peter Fichtenbauer, chairman of the Defence Committee of the Austrian Federal Parliament, in Viena, on 18 June.

The officials discussed topics related to draft being no longer mandatory in Romania, the professional military and the participation of the two countries` troops in international missions.

State Secretary Tataru was part of the delegation headed by Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who had meetings with the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Mr. Heinz Fischer, with the Federal Chancellor, Mr. Werner Faymann, with the president of the National Council of the Republic of Austria, Ms. Barbara Prammer, as well as with representative Austrian businessmen.
