The chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Stefan Danila, participated in the ceremony organized on Friday, 22 June, for the anniversary of 70 years since the establishment of the first military education institution, the Communications branch, held at the 'Decebal' Training Center for Communications and Information Technology in Sibiu.
After the report of the 'Decebal' Training Center for Communications and Information Technology commander, Colonel Dorin Chirca, and the personnel review, the chief of General Staff decorated the unit Combat Colors with the Order 'Merits in Education Knight rank, awarded through Presidential Decree.
'The historical significance of the moment brings back to memory the deeds of the young generations of communications specialists, who graduated from this military institution and put themselves in the service of the country and the military', Lieutenant General Stefan Danila declared.
The chief of General Staff also pointed out: 'I highly appreciate the efforts of the entire staff, who consider that only through work, reliability and professionalism would they be able to face the noble and sacred mission of defending the country and would be able to contribute with responsibility and energy to fulfilling the tasks and meeting the expectations our NATO allies have from the Romanian military'.
The chief of General Staff delivered the message of the National Defence Minister, Corneliu Dobritoiu, for the 70th anniversary of the Training Center for Communications and Information Technology in Sibiu.
'Today's trainers and students of the Center, you should be proud of the prestige your predecesors gave to the institution and should maintain it in the elite of the military education institutions ', the defence minister said in his message. 'At the same time, I urge you to keep in mind the lesson taught by your predecesors, namely that in order to be a good soldier, one has to have, above all, passion, will and tenacity', minister Corneliu Dobritoiu's message read.
At the end of the activity, the chief of the General Staff visited the technical specialty exhibition organized by the departments of the Training Center, the IT Competency Center and the Research Section, as well as the specialty labs and rooms of the Center, where he talked with the students.
