The 2012 edition of the 'Course for Journalists Reporting from Conflict Areas', takes place in Focsani garisson, on 25-29 June.

The course is organized by the Information and Public Relations Directorate of the Ministry of National Defence, with the support of the 282nd 'Unirea Principatelor' Mechanized Brigade and the 8th 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza' LAROM Brigade of Focsani.

The official opening of the course was attended by Brigadier General Nicolae Ciuca, commander of the 2nd ETICA Infantry Division and the two brigade commanders of Focsani, Brigadier General Florinel Damian and Colonel Adrian Tonea.

The 16 journalists participating in the course will acquire, during the theoretical module, knowledge on accreditation procedures, rules of conduct during military operations, safety and protection rules in conflict areas, aspects concerning operational security, risk assessment of theaters of operations.

During the practical module, the journalists will participate in different types of training, such as: running on an obstacle track, first aid procedures, survival techniques and shooting with infantry weapons.

The participants will also be familiarized with weapons and equipment typical of a theater of operations, CBRN means of protection and conducting a mission in an area of operations.

The course, now at its 9th edition, has trained 158 journalists since 2004.
