The State Secretary Sebastian Huluban met with Ms. Katherine Verdery, Ph.D., Julien J. Studley Faculty Scholar and Distinguished Professor of Anthropology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, at the Ministry of National Defence, on Thursday, on 19 July. Ms. Katherine Verdery is an expert in East-European anthropology and ethnic relations of the socialist and present times. She published many studies, articles, books and scientific papers.

Since 1973 she has conducted field research in Romania, acquiring fine knowledge on Romanian space and time, on Romanian history.

The meeting that took place at the invitation of Mr. Sebastian Huluban, Ph.D., focused on several topics, among which a theme of mutual interest, such as the historical research and "the new military history" of Romania. The discussions also explored the cooperation opportunities with the American academia and researchers with a view to broadening the vision on defence policy.
