The State Secretary for Parliament Liaison, Public Information and Personnel Welfare, Dan Tataru, participated in the events entitled '15 August - The Day of Oituz', that marked the celebration of 96 years since Romania joined WW1 and 95 years since the heroic battles of Oituz andi Marasesti.

The military and wreath-laying ceremonies took place at the heroes` monuments in the heroes` cemeteries from Oituz and Poiana Sarata.

State Secretary Dan Tataru spoke of the significance of the military operations at Oituz and Marasesti, in the summer of 1917, for the preservation of the military identity.

'It is commendable that the local authorities had the initiative to remind the younger generations the heroic deeds of our ancestors and I am convinced that that from now on there will be such events every year', State Secretary Dan Tataru said.

The commemorative activities were attended by troops from Bacau County and representatives of the local authorities.
