The Minister of National Defence, Corneliu Dobritoiu, participated in NATO Defence Ministerial in Brussels on 9 and 10 October.

The topics discussed during the two days talks covered NATO transformation, capabilities and performance indicators that such an effort involved. Stock of progress was analyzed mainly for ISAF NATO operation in Afghanistan as well as KFOR in Kosovo.

Minister Corneliu Dobritoiu explained at the end of the ministerial that \"at the level of the Alliance, there is an increased need to asses the effort made by each member country so that the political engagement is made based on the performance criteria'.

This requirement is all the more necessary as \"defence budgets are ever more relevant, even during economic austerity, as the dynamics of the international security environment calls for an increased political responsibility of the allies\", the Romanian defence minister added.

During the ministerial, minister Dobritoiu participated in three bilateral meetings with counterparts from Poland, Portugal and Hungary.
