The Minister of National Defence, Corneliu Dobritoiu, alongside a military delegation pay a working visit to the Romanian troops deployed in the theater of operations in Afghanistan.

The delegation of the defence ministry, including the chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Stefan Danila, the chief of the General Defence Intelligence Directorate, Lieutenant General Ilie Botos, the chief of Land Forces Staff, Lieutenant General Sorin Ioan and other representatives of the ministry leadership met with Romanian troops deployed in Kabul, on Friday, 2 November.

They discussed missions accomplished, cooperation with the other troops of the international forces and the Afghan security forces, as well as the degree of satisfaction with the logistic support available.

While permanently concerned with the morale of the troops in the theaters of operations, minister Dobritoiu wanted to listen to and find out the problems, personal ones included, Romanian troops deployed in the international structures in the Afghan capital city face, he wanted to discuss their health problems, the living conditions, their cares and concerns, their morale, assuring them of his and the ministry leadership support.

The main topics of discussion of the Romanian officials with the civilian NATO representative in Afghanistan, Ambassador Maurits R. Jochems, the deputy commander ISAF, Lieutenant General Nick Carter and ISAF IJC, Lieutenant General James L. Terry were the Romanian contingent`s place and role in NATO operation in Afghanistan, the contribution of the Romanian military to ISAF during 2013-2014 and the lines along which the future NATO mission in Afghanistan will unfold after 2014 (International Training Advisory and Assistance Mission).
