The Minister of National Defence, Corneliu Dobritoiu, met with Slovene Foreign Affairs Minister Karl Erjavec, on Friday, 23 November.

During the official talks that were attended by State Secretary for Defence Policy and Planning, Sebastian Huluban, as well, the main topics discussed were related to the evolution of the regional, European and global security environment and NATO transformation.

At the same time, they reviewed the conclusions of the recent meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU and its implications on the two countries in terms of the recent developments of the Common Security and Defence Policy, as well as the EU-led military operations and missions in different hotbeds across the globe (Horn of Africa: Operation EUNAVFOR - ATALANTA and Mission EUTM in Somalia; the Western Balkans: Operation ALTHEA).

The two ministers reiterated on this occasion the interest of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations and the close coordination in promoting regional cooperation values, stabilizing and increasing security in south-eastern Europe, as Romania will take over the chairmanship of the two structures of regional cooperation from 2013, namely South-Eastern Defence Ministerial (SEDM) and South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).
