Press Release

The training year of the Romanian Armed Forces opened officially in all military units on Monday, 7 January. A meeting was organized on this occasion at the defence ministry location attended by personnel of the General Staff.

Lieutenant-General Stefan Danila, chief of General Staff, conveyed a message to the military personnel to the effect that 2013 would also be a year marked by austerity, with a budgetary deficit in operations and procurement.

This year will be a landmark for the transformation and modernization of the Romanian Army, whereas the General Staff will be the leader of the process and will endorse political decisions by providing accurate, effective, viable and realistic solutions. We know where we are, what has to be done, we know our weak points and the problems to be solved, therefore I am confident that together we will find the solutions which should be validated after careful analysis, simulations and evaluation, Lieutenant-General Stefan Danila pointed out.

The chief of General Staff also noted that '2013 will be the year to restore balance between demands and resources in thinking, legislation as well as human relations'.
