The Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, and the chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Stefan Danila visited Miercurea-Ciuc garrison on Saturday, 2 February, when they also participated in the annual report of the 61st 'General Virgil Badulescu' Mountain Troops Brigade.

The Minister of National Defence said the activity of the unit personnel and their training results were very good and highlighted the importance of the Mountain Troops of Harghita and Covasna as a stability factor in the area.

As to the perspectives of year 2013, Minister Dusa said that 'The Ministry of National Defence is one of the few ministries with a larger budget in 2013 but that strict measures should be taken to set realistic, reachable goals, in agreement with existing resources'.

In turn, the chief of General Staff appreciated the efforts and activity of the Mountain Troops under these austere circumstances and congratulated them for their work in the service of the Romanian Armed Forces.

At the end of the annual report, Minister Mircea Dusa told the troops that they should be optimistic and noted that 'the military are educated in the spirit of responsibility and honor, being the main pillar of national security, while they have to meet their obligations to the international organizations as well'.

The program of the defence minister`’s visit continued with the participation in rendering operational SMURD (emergency rescue service) within the Firemen Detachment of Gheorgheni.
