The New Director General of the Defence Intelligence General Directorate

As of 13 February, Major General Marian Hapau is appointed Director General of the Defence Intelligence General Directorate by order of Mircea Dusa, the Minister of National Defence.

Major General Marian Hapau succeeds Lieutenant General Ilie Botos.

Major General Marian Hapau, 50 years old, has a law degree from 'Lucian Blaga' University of Sibiu and attended many post-graduate courses on private juridical law. In 2008 he graduated from the High College of National Intelligence and from the National Defence College in 2010.

Among the positions held previously there are those of chief of the Counterintelligence and Military Security Directorate and deputy chief of the Director General of the Defence Intelligence General Directorate, from 2009 to 2012 and chief of the Control and Inspection Body, from May 2012 to the present.

In 2009, Major General Hapau was awarded the Military Virtue Medal, Knight rank and the Order of the Star of Romania, Knight rank in 2010.
