Mountain Troops End of Mission in Afghanistan

The Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, and the chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Stefan Danila, participated in the homecoming ceremony of over 620 troops of the 2nd Maneuver Battalion from Afghanistan. The ceremony was organized at the 33rd Posada Mountain Troops Battalion of Curtea de Arges, on Tuesday, 19 February.
'Polls place the military at the top of the population's trust, which is a result of the fact that you, military men, defend Romania sometimes with the price of your lives. This makes Romanians proud and we can say they are proud due to you as well. While in other fields of activity results may not be as visible, we have done our duty with honor', was the message of the Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, to the troops returned from Afghanistan.
The ceremony was attended also by the chide of Land Forces Staff, Lieutenant General Sorin Ioan, representatives of local authorities, former commanders of the battalion, reserve and retired military personnel, troops' family members.

The 2nd Maneuver Battalion partnered with Afghan Security Forces in over 5,500 missions conducted from July 2012 to February 2013, in their area of responsibility of Zabul Province, for the security of the local population and to create the conditions for the Afghan authorities to take over the responsibilities of the area of operations.
