Minister Mircea Dușa: "We will analyze the status of several buildings belonging to the military and where we find that certain buildings or terrains are no longer useful to us, we will have them transferred to local administrations
The Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dușa, went to Timișoara, on Thursday, 21 March, to meet with representatives of the local administration, the 18th "Banat" Infantry Brigade and the Military Emergency Hospital "Dr. Victor Popescu".
After visiting several hospital sections, minister Dușa appreciated the way the hospital management is involved in equipping and organizing the institution in terms of both infrastructure and medical staff, so that the hospital could offer medical services at the highest standards both at peace and in times of crisis.
"The hospital is now undergoing a full modernization process and the 2013 defence budget includes the money necessary to continue this important activity. Fortunately, compared to last year, in this years budget the funds for capital expenditures were doubled. I will continue to allot funds for the procurement of new equipment meant to ensure the proper operation of the hospital. I talked to patients and I wish to thank the staff for the great job they are doing", the defence minster said.
As to the issue between the military hospital and the Mayors Office, the defence minister declared that one of the purposes of his visit to Timișoara was to find the best solution for the citizens, in the first place.
"I had a serious discussion with the Mayor and I am convinced we will find, pretty soon, a solution for the relocation of the Clinic of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases of the Emergency Hospital of Timișoara. We will analyze the status of several buildings belonging to the military and where we find that certain buildings or terrains are no longer useful to us, we will have them transferred to local administrations.
Also today, the Minister of National Defence met with Brigadier General Gheorghe Simina, commander of the 18th "Banat" Infantry Brigade to be briefed on the activity of the almost 1,000 troops deployed to Afghanistan, for NATOs operation of security assistance.
