Ceremonies Celebrating May 9

The Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, and the chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Stefan Danila will participate in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Memorial of WW2 Heroes (Carol I National Defence University) on Thursday, May 9, for the celebration of the Independence Day of the Romanian State, the Day of Europe and Victory Day.

From 12.00, a military and religious wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the grave of General Constantin Christescu, at Bellu Cemetery, marking 90 years since his death, the man considered the creator of the military staff school in the Romanian Armed Forces.

The National Military Museum and the National Air Force Museum also organize the Open Gates day, from 09.00.

County municipalities and towns hosting military units organize wreath-laying ceremonies with the participation of active, reserve and retired military personnel and war veterans as well as representatives of public authorities.
