The Minister of National Defence Met with the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Bucharest

The Minister of National Defence met with H.E. Diego Brasioli, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Bucharest, at the defence ministry, on Monday, 20 May.

During the meeting, the two officials stressed out the interest of the parties for the development of defence cooperation within the Romania-Italian Consolidated Strategic Partnership.

Minister Dusa conveyed the message to the Ambassador of the Italian Republic that Romania continues to be a constant advocate of the development of NATO missile defence system.

'The operational engagement in Afghanistan is a priority for Romania. The successful ending of the ISAF mission requires we maintain the allied solidarity and we have to think to the post 2014 mission in Afghanistan', minister Dusa mentioned.

'EU’s increasing role in managing international crises requires the joint efforts of EU member states and institutions for the development of the necessary capabilities, while the European Council of December will be a major opportunity to revive the Common Security and Defence Policy', Mircea Dusa added.
