Closing Ceremony of Multinational Exercise Black Sea Rotational Force 13

The closing ceremony of Multinational Exercise Black Sea Rotational Force 13 (BSRF 13) will take place at the Administrative Center Mihail Kogalniceanu, on Thursday, 8 August, from 10.00, in the presence of State Secretary Sebastian Huluban, chief of the Department for Defence Policy and Planning.

Over 1,000 Romanian troops and some 600 troops of Bulgaria, FYRO Macedonia and the USA conducted a six-month long exercise across the territory of Romania and several other countries in the area of the Black Sea, the Balkans and the Caucasus.

Among the locations where the exercise was conducted in Romania were Bucharest, Craiova, Dej, Babadag, Pitesti, Fagaras, Constanta and Mihail Kogalniceanu. The 4th edition of BSRF 13 was conducted by the US Marines Corps Forces Europe (MARFOREUR) with a view to increasing interoperability among the troops of participating nations.

The exercise included activities that are usually conducted before the deployment to a theater of operations (identifying and countering improvised explosive devices, response in crises situations and first aid maneuvers on the battle field), carrying patrol missions in the area of responsibility and securing objectives, response and action in case of ambush, etc.

Seminars on the topic of logistics, operations, CIMIC and the development of NCO corps were also organized with the participation of about 60 Romanian and foreign NCOs of NATO member and partner countries.
