The 89th Main Center of Communications and Information Celebrated 65 Years of Existence

A ceremony was organized to celebrate 65 years since the establishment of the 89th Main Center of Communications and Information at the unit location in Bucharest, on Tuesday, 1 October. The ceremony was attended by the chief deputy of the General Staff for operations and training, Lieutenant General Valeriu Nicut, and other military and civilian officials.

The Unit Colors was decorated with Military Virtue Order, rank of officer, for the entire activity conducted by former and present personnel of the unit.

Also, several troops were awarded the Emblem of Honor of the General Staff and the Emblem of Honor of Communications and Information.

During the event, the order of the chief of General Staff was read, that conveyed a message for the entire personnel who showed \"outstanding professional conduct and a great adaptability to the compatibility and interoperability requirements of similar NATO structures, which guarantees the successful participation in accomplishing, using and maintaining the communications and information system at strategic level.'

The 89th Main Center of Communications and Information achieved the first radio connection over an about 6000 km distance with the field hospital participating in UNOSOM II mission, in Somalia. At present, the unit ensures the lines of communications and information of the General Staff.
