Agreements Signed by the Romanian and Moldovan Defence Ministers

Romanian Moldovan ministers of defence, Mircea Dusa, and Vitalie Marinuta, signed today, 2 December, the Agreement between the Romanian Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Moldova on the mutual protection of classified information in the military field and the protocol between the two ministries on the cooperation in military education.

'Signing the Agreement on the mutual protection of classified information in the military field is an important step in developing bilateral military relations. The agreement is in compliance with Romanian legislation on the protection of classified information', Minister Mircea Dusa said.

As to the protocol between the two ministries on cooperation in military education, the two ministers pointed out that the act includes new provisions regulating the education of the personnel from the Moldovan Ministry of National Defence in Romanian military education institutions.

Also, Minister Mircea Dusa informed that Romania endorses a more hands-on approach of the Republic of Moldova to activities and actions conducted under the aegis of EU Common Defence and Security Policy, as part of its European integration process. In turn, Minister Vitalie Mariunta thanked for the support given to the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to extend its relations with the EU and NATO. He also appreciated that the two documents signed today would contribute to the modernization of the Moldovan Armed Forces.
