Military Interventions to Free Access Roads

Troops of the Ministry of National Defence intervened twice in Arges and Valcea counties on Saturday, 25 January, in support of the population affected by snowfalls and blizzards.

The two missions were requested by the local authorities. About 40 soldiers with three amphibious armored vehicles and two all terrain trucks work to free route A1, while 10 other soldiers work with several specially equipped trucks to free from snow the roads in Madulari and Susani localities, Valcea County.

The Minister of National Defence ordered yesterday that all emergency intervention units, in areas flagged with the orange code of bad weather, increase their response capabilities.

At present, some 4,000 troops and 650 vehicles and technical devices are ready to intervene, at the request of local authorities, in support of the population affected by snowfalls and blizzards.

If needed, the Ministry of National Defence will augment its intervention forces with 4,000 more troops and 530 vehicles and technical devices.
