Supreme Allied Commander Europe Visits Romania

General Philip M. Breedlove, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), will meet with the Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, at the defence ministry, on Thursday 30 January.
The talks agenda includes Romania's contribution to Allied operations, especially ISAF and the future mission, Resolute Support, in Afghanistan, Smart Defence project Romania is part of and the implementation plan of NATO Connected Forces Initiative.

At the end of the meetings, the two officials will make joint press statements at the Ministry of National Defence. Journalists interested in participating are expected the ministry location between 9.00 and 9.30 (entrance next to Marriott Hotel).

The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) commands the Allied Command Operations, one of the two strategic commands of NATO in charge with all allied military operations.
SACEUR, traditionally a United States Flag or General officer, exercises his command from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) at Casteau, near Mons, Belgium. He is also Commander, United States Air Force Europe.
SACEUR is nominated by the US President and his nomination is approved by the North-Atlantic Council. From May 2013, the position was taken by General Philip M. Breedlove, a pilot with over 3500 flight hours, mostly on F-16.
