Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, Participates in the Informal Meeting of EU Ministers of Defence

Mircea Dusa: Following the decisions of the European Council of December 2013, Romania is actively involved in meeting the goals of the Common Security and Defence Policy

The Informal Meeting of EU Ministers of Defence opened with a presentation of the conclusions of the European Council of December 2013, focusing mainly on ways to implement them.

In this context, the Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, pointed out that the meeting of December 2013 meant a decisive medium and long term consolidation process of the Common Security and Defence Policy.

'2014 is a decisive year for the start of the implementation process of the assigned tasks. Romania is actively involved in meeting the goals of the Common Security and Defence Policy'.

Mircea Dusa`s speech conveyed the message that it is important for Romania to consolidate partnerships with third parties and the European maritime strategy that deals equally with all maritime basins.

The Minister of National Defence restated our country`s support to continue the missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mali and Somalia. In this respect, Mircea Dusa declared that 'we pledge ourselves to contribute to these missions and to render operational our defence contribution to EU strategies and policies for the development of partner countries` capabilities\".
