A NATO E-3A AWACS aircraft carries out a flight in the airspace of Romania on Tuesday 11 March, on the established routes and areas, in agreement with the approval ofthe North Atlantic Council. The flight is part of a planned exercise, conducted periodically, aiming at training Air Police forces and equipments. Airborne Early Warning and Control System aircraft has the basic mission to conduct reconnaissance flights, to ensure the command, control and communications during operations carried out in NATO airspace. The aircraft operate at altitudes of over 9,000m, their radar can survey an area of up to 312,000 square kilometers and can detect low-flying targets in a range of up to 400 km, and medium flying targets of up to 520 km.
