The Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (CEUMC), General Patrick de Rousiers Visits Romania

The Romanian Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, met with the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Patrick de Rousiers on Thursday, March 20.

The meeting of the European Council of December last year was one of the topics discussed by the two officials, who share the opinion that the meeting marked the consolidation process of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) on medium and long term.

The Chairman of the EU Military Committee talked about the participation in EU-led operations, when Minister Dusa reiterated that Romania will carry on the missions it committed to with international partners.

The visit of the EUMC Chairman is an opportunity to make public the position and national interests regarding Romanian military participation in operations/missions under the aegis of the CSDP.

Minister Dusa stated that Romania is interested in identifying those programs and projects that bear a cooperation potential and contribute to the development of the military capabilities necessary according to the CSDP provisions.

On this occasion, General Patrick de Rousiers was received by the chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Stefan Danila, who considered the visit was highly useful as it provided a clear image on Romania`s capabilities to contribute to EU`s defence operations.
