Bilateral Meeting between the Defence Ministers of Poland and Romania

The Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, and his Polish counterpart, Tomasz Siemoniak, met at the defence ministry on Friday 21 March.

The agenda included talks on bilateral defence cooperation, the preparations related to the NATO Summit to take place in London this autumn and the potential cooperation plans between the military services.

In this context, the Romanian defence minister pointed out that the partnership between our countries goes back a long way and is based on common principles. Minister Dusa also brought up the fact that in preparing London NATO Summit in autumn, the allies should take a certain position as to the future military capabilities.

Among the other topics discussed, were the cooperation agreement between Romania and Poland, especially between the air forces of the two countries, the stage of the missile defence system implementation and maritime security in the extended Black Sea region.
At the end of the meeting, the two defence ministers saluted the fact that the EU and Ukraine signed the elements of a political Association Agreement.
