The meeting of the Romanian Defence Minister with his Canadian counterpart

'A good knowledge of the national positions at bilateral level helps maximize the current opportunities and promote common interests of Romania and Canada '. The statement was made by the Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, during the bilateral meeting with his Canadian counterpart, Robert Nicholson.

Defence Minister Mircea Dusa thanked the Canadian defence minister for the excellent cooperation between the two states, especially during 'Dacian Flag' Exercise conducted at Campia Turzii. 'The presence of the six F18 aircraft at the air base from Campia Turzii stands for the Canadian solidarity and firm commitment to NATO continuous efforts to provide for the security of the allied countries', Mircea Dusa stated.

In his turn, the Canadian defence minister emphasized the professionalism of the Romanian Armed Forces’ soldiers proved in the theaters of operations and congratulated defence minister Dusa on the promptness shown in the efficient manner the common military exercise from Campia Turzii was conducted.

At the end of the talks, the two officials agreed on the fact that this meeting would contribute to the synchronization of the two countries’ positions with regard to the direction of the North Atlantic Alliance transformation process in the of the new European and global security environment and expressed their hope that the two countries would find new development and cooperation opportunities in the military field.

The bilateral meeting took place in the context of the NATO Defence Ministers’ Reunion that is to take place today, June 3rd, at Brussels.
