Mircea Dusa: Romania and Germany have excellent opportunities for the development of the military cooperation mechanisms

During the bilateral meeting of the Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, with the Defence Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ursula von der Leyen, the two officials discussed about the status of the co-operation relationships between the two armed forces.

Minister Dusa expressed his satisfaction on the implementation of the reassurance measures adopted by the allied countries, at the same time emphasizing the need to develop a long-term defence posture for the Alliance in order to adequately respond to the challenges posed by the European security environment.

The importance of the allied mechanisms employed for intensifying bilateral cooperation, such as the development of defence capabilities by using the Framework Nations Concept and the implementation of NATO’s maritime strategy were highlighted during the official talks.

In this line, Minister Dusa emphasized the importance of the Black Sea in the new strategic context. The two defence ministers highlighted the experience gained when cooperating, planning and conducting common exercises for the two armed forces and agreed upon continuing the common training activities.

The meeting between the Romanian and the German defence ministers took place in the context of the upcoming NATO Defence Ministers’ Reunion, thus contributing to identifying new development bilateral cooperation opportunities, including in the defence industry field.
