20 July The Day of the Romanian Aviation and Air Force

On 20 July, the Romanian military aviators celebrate the Day of the Romanian Aviation and Air Force under the patronage of their protector, Saint Ilie Tesviteanul. On this occasion, all units subordinated to the Air Force's Staff will organize military and religious ceremonies, sports competitions, symposiums and military-specific activities.
The soldiers of 71 Air Base 'General Emanoil Ionescu' will organize the Open Doors' Day on 19 July, between 9.00 and 16.00, at Campia Turzii.
The event agenda will consists in static exhibitions of military equipment, paratroop launchings and demonstrative flights with MiG-21 LanceR-s and IAK-52 aircraft, as well as with IAR-330, SOCAT, IAR-316 B helicopters and CF-18 Hornet aircraft of the Canadian Royal Air Force and of Romania's Air club.
The Open Doors' Day will also be organized in Bucharest, at 90 Airlift Base 'Gheorghe Banciulescu', Otopeni on Sunday, 20 July, between 9.00 and 15.30.
The visitors can visit static exhibitions of military equipment, a tactical exercise of the search and rescue detachment and can assist to demonstrative flights with MiG-21 LanceR, IAK-52 and C-27 J Spartan aircraft and IAR-330 helicopters.
A wreath laying religious and military ceremony will take place on Sunday, at 18.00, at the Air Heroes' Monument from Aviatorilor Square.
During the ceremony, formations of IAR-330 helicopters, C-27J Spartan, C-130 Hercules, AN-30 and MiG-21 LanceR aircrafts will perform flights over Aviatorilor Avenue, from Victoria Pallace to Charles de Gaulle Square. The public has free access to these events.
