The Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, met with U.S. Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence, Mr. Michael G. Vickers, Ph.D., on Wednesday, 30 July.
The two officials talked of the excellent intelligence exchanges and the development of bilateral cooperation in this respect.

Minister Dusa talked of the intention to keep developing defence relations with the USA, in the form of the Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century between the United States of America and Romania. The minister also emphasized his appreciation for the U.S. support in training personnel and developing capabilities, for the technical and logistics assistance given to the Romanian troops in Afghanistan.

The Romanian defence minister and the US Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence also discussed NATO`s future mission in Afghanistan and the need for a continued cooperation in this theater of operations post-2014.
