The Minister of National Defence at the 4-5 September NATO Summit,The Wales

Defence Minister, Mircea Dusa, will participate in the NATO Summit from The Wales, through 4-5 September, an important event for the Transatlantic community.

NATO will prove unity and force by increasing the allied reaction capability and the defence designated funds as well as by strengthening the relations with its partners following the decisions that are to be adopted.

The agenda of September 4 will consist of the Meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of the Defence Ministers of the states participating in the interoperability Platform. The meeting will be headed by the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Alexander Vershbow. The talks will focus on the increase of interoperability through education, training and NATO-led exercises and operations. The reunion will be an opportunity for emphasizing the Alliance’s commitment towards an intensified dialogue with its partners.

The development of NATO capabilities will be debated during a working dinner having as a starting point the recent changes in the Euro-Atlantic security environment. The project run under the Smart Defence initiative aegis, missile defence and Connected Forces Initiative are the main priorities of the Alliance’s capability development process.

The meeting of the Ministers of Defence with partners from other countries with the view of launching the Cooperation Enhancement Program will take place the second day of the Summit. Thus, talks about ways of enhancing cooperation with Australia, Finland, Georgia, Jordan and Sweden will be held.
