Lieutenant General Gheorghe Catrina, chief of the Romanian Air Staff paid an working visit between June 17 and 21, 04 in Afghanistan.

According to the mandate granted by General Mihail Popescu, chief of the General Staff of the Romanian Armed Forces the chief of the Air Staff visited the military of the 280th Infantry Battalion in the theater of operation in Afghanistan, in Kandahar in order to discuss with the officers and the personnel of the Battalion on the missions performed till now and their future projection and the details on the rotation of the detachments in the theater of operations.

The 405 military from the 280th Infantry Battalion from Focsani commanded by Col. Victor Dascalescu will return home at the middle of July 04, at the end of their mission developed in the last six months within the Enduring Freedom operation in Afghanistan.

In Kandahar Lieutenant General Gheorghe Catrina met the commander of the 3rd Light Infantry Brigade Col. Richard Pedersen and visited the US Air Force Command and the TF DIAMOND Command Center (Army Helicopters Unit) and talked on the issues specific to the Air Forces.

In the second part of the visit the chief of the Air Force visited the other locations where the Romanian military are acting (Kabul and Bagram).
