In the context of NATO Defence Ministers' Meeting, the Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, had a meeting with his Georgian counterpart, Mr. Mindia Janelidze, on Thursday, February 5.

'This meeting is an opportunity to assess the defence cooperation of our countries and a good opportunity to identify the perspectives of the military relations of Romania and Georgia. I want you to know that you have the unwavering support of the Romanian ministry of defence', the Romanian defence minister said at the beginning of the meeting.

From an allied perspective, minister Dusa assured the Georgian side that Romania will get actively involved in the implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package aimed at strengthening Georgia's defence capabilities.

As part of the offer to help Georgia modernize its security forces, minister Dusa proposed that Georgian troops participate in regional NATO-led exercises alongside Romanian troops as well as in training and simulation exercises carried out by the Romanian military.

Minister Dusa expressed his appreciation on Georgia's outstanding operational effort to contribute to NATO missions and Response Force.
